  • Tl;dr: Los Angeles offers a no-fee debit card, dubbed the Angeleno Card, to residents who were beneath the federal poverty line before the COVID-19 crisis began and who had their income reduced by at least another 50% due to the outbreak.

    The cards will come with $700, $1,100 or $1,500, depending on the size and income of each household, a news release stated.

$500 per person for undocumented in california

  • Tl;dr: California has an estimated 2 million immigrants living in the country illegally. They are not eligible for the $2.2 trillion stimulus payment. California has raised $125M to give150,000 undocumented adults $500 each during the coronavirus outbreak.

  • Eligibility: Undocumented adults living in California. Not available yet. Applications begin in May.
    The fund will be dispersed through a "community-based model of regional nonprofits with expertise and experience serving undocumented communities," according to the governor's office.

ONE-TIME check of $1,200 per person

  • Tl;dr: The Federal government is giving every tax-filing person a $1200 check, along with $500/child under the age of 17. But it phases out at $75k/$150k for single and married couples. It is completely gone if you make more than $99k/$198k (single/married).

  • Eligibility: They use the most recently filed tax return to determine. If you have filed your 2019 tax return, they use your 2019 return. If you have not, they use the 2018 version.

Unemployment insurance ON STEROIDS

  • Tl;dr: With the stimulus bill, one can collect an additional $600/week on top of the existing unemployment benefits for 4 months. For example, in California, you can collect up to $450/week with the standard unemployment benefits, along with the additional $600 from the stimulus package, in total of $1,050/week.

    mortgage payment moratorium

  • Tl;dr: With any mortgage backed by the federal government, you can delay making mortgage payments for 60 days during hardship. However, you will have to call your bank to make the request and it’s evaluated case by case. Lastly, you are not getting away with the payments, you will just have to pay later.

  • Eligibility: any loan backed by the federal government. Think Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, HUD and FHA.

    60-day HOME FORECLOSURE MORATORIUM

  • Tl;dr: Between now and mid-May, even if you are behind on your mortgage payments, you home won’t be foreclosed on, as long as you have a loan backed by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, HUD or FHA. If you have private financing such as seller financing or a hard money loan, then you are out of luck.

    6-month student loan MORATORIUM

  • Tl;dr: Starting on March 13, you don’t have to pay your federal student loans for 6 months until September 2020, and no interest will be accrued during this pause.

  • Eligibility: Your loans need to be federally held, not by private banks or private companies. In other words, you’d qualify if you have these types of loans: Stafford, PLUS, and Health Professions Student Loans. Perkins loans also do not qualify.

  • Tl;dr: For 60 days nationwide, renters cannot be evicted due to coronavirus.

    Auto insurance 60-day grace period (ca)

  • Tl;dr: In California, there is now a 60-day grace period for auto insurance payments for the entire state, meaning you can pay up to 60 days later. Before you do so, call your insurance company up first. Outside of California, almost all auto insurance companies are also flexible with the payment schedule at this point. But you need to call them to discuss case by case.
